THE PURPOSE
Coleman Music exists to expand the human experience through music.
I’m not sure which desire came first, my passion to collect great music or to create experiences with it. I suppose the merging of these two became my life's work.
Being a music curator is about vision and telling stories. It’s about drawing from a variety of experiences. It’s about having an understanding and sensibility of the effect a song and sound has.
The process involves exploration, knowledge and ruthless editing. In the end it comes down to having your unique style and taste
Every client presents a unique opportunity to deliver something special. We’re avid trend watchers, brand experiencers and cultural observers. Most importantly, we’re connected to the world of music in a profound way. It’s our job to know what’s out there, put it together and bring it - every time.

BIO
Throughout my life I have always had a deep passion for both music and style. My need to express this began with an obsession to collect every genre and style of music I could find and study the different emotional effects they had on me. I began to realize that I wanted to share the power of emotion through music.
I taught myself to DJ during the 80’s in Minneapolis and discovered after high school that New York City would be my next home. My interest in NYC was not just music but access. Access to people, culture and the world. At that time DJing was a different art than it is today. Finding music meant spending countless hours in vinyl shops and spending $5-$9 for one song. After playing for years in many top clubs including Nell’s, Palladium and Club USA, I felt limited and wanted to expand my work.
Connecting music and fashion felt like a logical next step. I began working with designers and lifestyle brands DJing and creating soundtracks for their events and fashion shows. It felt very natural for me to collaborate with my clients and understand what their story and “musical identity” was because I was their customer and I was always up on the latest trends
In addition to fashion and events I spent a year bringing the same concept of “musical identity” to the 96 Olympics. As a music supervisor I paired music to events including medal ceremonies, capturing the feel of the moment and culture of the country, all for the network; NBC. After working on these games I took a year off and traveled east to India and South East Asia. It has always been very important for me to get off the grid to gain perspective and immerse myself in different cultures like some kind of social scientist. After a year in Asia I spent another year in London DJing and producing music. Then it was back to NYC. Traveling and working in five continents has given me an incredible education in life, culture and people.
